King Ranch: First Solar Farm Project

First Renewable Energy Development on King Ranch
Noria Hondo 220MW Combined Solar and Battery Farm Project

King Ranch is proud to be partnering with Talen Energy Corp. in the development of the first utility scale renewable energy project, Noria Hondo, a 145MW Solar and 75MW Battery Storage facility on 2000 acres of agricultural land owned by King Ranch in Kleberg County, Texas. The project is sustainably designed to be minimal impact, planted with native seed mix and returned to its original condition at end of life. Talen Energy, the developer/operator, is one of the country’s largest independent power producers and a leader in repositioning its power fleet to incorporate renewable energy and dual fuel switching capability. Talen offers its customers a zero-carbon energy source product.

King Ranch is looking to participate in sustainable energy development that is both atmospheric and nature friendly. We focus on technologies that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and support the local ecosystem. Our partners share a commitment to preserve and protect Texas natural resources and to give back to the local community and schools.
